Getting Productive – Starting Is Most Of The Battle
February 01, 2012
Being productive is something that is extremely difficult for anyone living in the 21st century. We have hundreds of distractions surrounding us. Our world is pretty much non-stop, and shows no sign of slowing down. While all of this hustle and bustle can lead to the creation of great things, it can also deter your attention from the things you need to get done. It takes a lot of willpower and determination to get through your everyday tasks so that you could do the things you’d rather be doing. It doesn’t have to be difficult, however, which is where these tips on becoming more productive come in!
Get organized: Many people can tell you that being surrounded by a mess can deter their productivity. Not all of those people, however, will do something to change that. Before you begin anything, take 5-10 minutes to get yourself organized and get everything you need in order. Also, make sure to prioritize what needs to be done so that you’re doing what you need to be doing rather than what can wait.
Get started: Half of the time, getting started on what you have to do is half the battles. We are masters at the art of procrastination. We could go on for days with excuses why we can’t get started on a project. Focus your attention and realize how big of an accomplishment it is to actually start!
Get the hardest work done first: There’s always a task we avoid because it involves a long or tedious process. Powering through those tasks first, however, makes the rest of your workload seem that much easier. You’ll feel like you can do anything once you get the hardest things on your to-do list done.
